Jose Mourinho linked to West Ham United job with David Moyes under pressure as verdict emerges

Jose Mourinho replacing David Moyes is “not an option” for West Ham who believe that the situation is starting to improve under the Scot, according to ExWHUEmployee.

The Daily Mail reported on 27 January that the current Roma boss wants to return to the Premier League, and linked him to the Hammers job which “could also be available soon given David Moyes’ struggles”.

But after two 2-0 wins in the league and the cup that has been ruled out by ExWHUEmployee in a report from The West Ham Way.

He said: “The Jose talk isn’t correct, as the club have had no interest in bringing the current Roma manager to West Ham – that has never been an option.

“At this stage the club do believe a corner his being turned now under Moyes. But make no mistake the time is now. He has to showcase this and in effect its on a game by game basis currently.

“The boards intention has always been to stand behind Moyes which they have done, the belief is that he will turn this situation around.”

Surely not

There’s no debate that Moyes has struggled this season after elevating the standards at West Ham considerably in the past couple of seasons.

If he can’t keep the Irons away from the relegation zone then his job is going to remain firmly in the firing line, despite the good work he has done.

But the Special One rocking up at the London Stadium in the near future seems like a recipe for disaster, with the three-time Premier League winner producing diminishing returns these days.

If the club’s board, possibly after a takeover, wanted a headline manager to come in and rule over the high priced recruitments then there is some logic to it.

But it certainly wouldn’t last very long, as every step of his career has proven, even if he manages to hit on a winning formula early on, and he has of course already managed two of the club’s London rivals.

The Hammers fixtures this month are pretty testing, and three straight defeats against Newcastle, Chelsea, and Spurs could easily leave the club back in the relegation zone so Moyes is far from out of danger.

But Mourinho won’t turn up midseason either way, and even in the summer if the current manager is removed it seems unlikely.
