Jose Mourinho keen on West Ham target Tammy Abraham if Edin Dzeko leaves
AS Roma manager Jose Mourinho will target West Ham target Tammy Abraham if Edin Dzeko leaves the Italian club this summer.
According to The Daily Express, Mourinho has identified the Chelsea forward as a like-for-like replacement for Dzeko, and will do everything he can to tempt the England international to move to Italy.
Mourinho, who is a two-time Chelsea manager, has kept an eye on Abraham for a while and is understood to be a fan of the Blues attacker.
He’s not the only one, as football pundits have also waxed lyrical of the 23-year-old of late. Speaking about him on talkSPORT, Trevor Sinclair labelled Abraham as an ‘elite’ forward.
The Portuguese is preparing to take over from Paulo Fonseca but has already made his transfer intentions clear.
Dzeko, whose deal runs out in a year, looked like he was having his contract terminated this summer, but a new manager coming through the door at the Stadio Olimpico may help change his mind and convince him to stay in the Italian capital for at least one season.
Roma’s interest in Abraham may not have come as welcome news for West Ham as the East London outfit appeared to be the frontrunners to secure his services.
Bad news
Even though Mourinho is not in the Premier League, he still finds a way to get on your nerves.
There’s no denying that the Portuguese had the pulling power to convince players to join him in the past.
However, over the past few years, he’s left a sour taste at every club, and we’re not sure whether he still carries that kind of charm,
Abraham would want to stay in England and preferably in London. We would offer him European football and a first-team berth and show him how the club is headed in the right direction.
There have been reports of us being given a huge kitty to spend this summer, and we may be forced to overpay if the interest from Roma is legitimate.
Alternatively, we know that Chelsea are hell-bent on signing Declan Rice, so using Abraham as part of that deal would ensure that there’s no room for other clubs to make things more complicated.
