Joe Hart wowed by what Haaland did to Antonio in Man City win v West Ham United
Joe Hart hailed Erling Haaland after he chased down Michael Antonio and stopped a West Ham United counter-attack on Saturday.
The Hammers were subject to yet another romping by Haaland after the Norway international managed to bag a hat trick in City’s 3-1 win against Julen Lopetegui’s men.
Despite his goals, it was Haaland’s defensive work that caught the eye of former goalkeeper Hart, who played for both sides.
Speaking live on Match of the Day (31 August, 30:16), Hart said the following: “This is a guy who loves being at the football club and wants to help his teammates.”
“They’ll have talked about Michael Antonio on the break, Haaland opens his legs, gets back, incredible teamwork.”
Erling Haaland was too much for West Ham United to handle
Despite West Ham making a plethora of additions to their squad over the course of summer, it feels as if the London-based club haven’t gotten off to the best of starts.
The club find themselves residing in 14th place with just three points to their name.
And, despite the additions of players such as Max Kilman [BBC, 13 August] and former Manchester United man Aaron Wan-Bissaka to their ranks, the London-based club have still managed to concede a total of five top-flight goals.

Whilst this doesn’t put Lopetegui’s men in the bottom half of the bracket in terms of goals conceded, its an area of the pitch they’d have likely hoped would’ve been somewhat stronger.
There is still plenty of time left in the window for Lopetegui to shore up his defence, but, if they want to make their way back into European football, it needs to happen sooner rather than later.
In other West Ham news, Lopetegui has provided an update on Alphonse Areola.
