Joe Cole wowed by Mohammed Kudus in ‘Wrong’ West Ham United player claim

By Robert Wheeler.

Joe Cole has been wowed by West Ham United star Mohammed Kudus and has backed him to take the club to the next level at the London Stadium.

Kudus scored a sensational volley for West Ham but his side suffered a 3-2 defeat to Brentford on Saturday 4 November.

Cole was speaking ahead of the Europa League clash with Olympiacos, picking out Michail Antonio who is simply the wrong side of 30-years-old now to kick on further.

Speaking to the Sunday People [05 November, pg 48], Cole singled out the African attacker as one player who can push the club to another level.

“Kudus is a terrific player,” he said.

“The challenge for David Moyes and his team is finding a way to get the best out of both Kudus and Jarrod Bowen. One of them will end up playing centrally, that’s how I see it.

“Michail Antonio is a fantastic player but on the wrong side of 30, and you have to manage his minutes when you’re also in European competition.”

Time to move on.

Antonio has been a great servant for West Ham and is the club’s top goalscorer in the Premier League.

However, he is not getting any younger and Moyes will have to move him on in the near future, with his disaster at Brentford the perfect example of why.

Bowen looks to be the man that Moyes is building his team around. After losing Declan Rice last summer, he has become the new star and has recently signed a new contract which will keep him at West Ham until 2030.

Partnering Bowen with Kudus will be key to West Ham’s success this season, with the early signs in the defeat at Brentford very positive with both finding the net.

The Ghanaian is only 23 years old and has already shown that he can be a perfect replacement for Antonio.

The Hammers have a busy schedule and are back in Europa League action next Thursday as they take on Olympiakos at the London Stadium. West Ham lost to the Greek side in their last European game and will need Kudus to shine if they are to avenge their defeat.

In other West Ham United news, a “really telling” sign has already been given on the manager’s future at the London Stadium.
