Joao Palhinha release clause update immediately shot down by Fulham chief Tony Khan amid West Ham United links

Fulham chief Tony Khan has confirmed that there is “no release clause” in Joao Palhinha’s release clause at Fulham amid links to West Ham.

According to talkSPORT, the Hammers view the midfield as a potential Declan Rice replacement.

The publication added that that the Fulham ace “is believed” to have a release clause in his contract.

Khan quoted the post, saying: “There is no release clause.”

Shot down

The report that Palhinha has a release clause in his Fulham deal was immediately shot down by Khan, who undoubtedly knows more about the player’s contract than anyone given his various roles at the club, which include Sporting Director.

There have already been countless reports concerning Palhinha and several other players before the transfer window has even opened, so it’s very refreshing to see such reports immediately called out by people in the know.

A West Ham move for Palhinha would definitely make sense, with Rice looking very likely to leave the London Stadium this summer. The former enjoyed a superb season for the Cottagers, much like Rice’s campaign for the Hammers.

But his displays mean there will be several clubs eyeing his signature this summer as they look for a no-nonsense, tough-tackling player to help strengthen their midfield.

There may be no release clause, but the Hammers should definitely have more than enough money to fund his signature when they finally let go of Rice.
