Jim White: West Ham fans need to get rid of inferiority complex

Jim White has urged West Ham fans to get rid of their inferiority complex and start thinking like they are a big club.

The talkSPORT presenter discussed the Hammers’ recent performances both in the league and the cup and questioned the attitude of some of their fans.

He believes that they go into big matches always with an air of pessimism and keep finding faults with everything that’s wrong with the club.

White said, live on talkSPORT, “West Ham are a big club. They’ve always been a big club in my eyes.

“There’s always something that makes you feel that West Ham fans appear to have an inferiority complex.

“West Ham fans, why do you resist having a big club mentality? There’s always something that spreads through an air of pessimism.”

Makes a good point

A number of Hammers fans have this mentality where they feel that everything is going against them.

Looking at the last 12 months, they have every reason to believe the club is headed in the right direction.

West Ham

David Moyes has got the side playing good football and has built a real unity inside the dressing rooms.

The players he’s roped in have all brought something different to this side and for the first time in many years, fans should go into most games thinking that they will win them.

However, that change in mindset hasn’t happened yet and it must if the Hammers are to go to the next level.

Players thrive under positive vibes and get that added motivation if they think the crowd believes in them.
