Jesse Lingard still being assessed by West Ham United coaches as short-term contract timeline emerges
David Moyes has given Jesse Lingard another week to earn a short-term West Ham contract, according to Sky Sports.
The publication reported on its website on Friday (18 August) that the club’s coaching staff are currently assessing the player as he trains with the Hammers.
The attacker spent the second half of the 2020/21 season on loan in claret and blue from Premier League giants Manchester United.

“West Ham boss David Moyes has given Jesse Lingard another week to earn a short-term contract,” according to Sky Sports.
“Lingard is still training with the Hammers first-team and continues to be assessed by the coaching staff.”

Mixed feelings
West Ham supporters will have mixed feelings about bringing the 30-year-old back to the London Stadium this summer.
He certainly shone in claret and blue during his brief loan spell there from the Red Devils, registering nine goals and five assists from his 16 appearances.
The attacker provided many good memories for fans of the club, but then when it came to returning to the Hammers last summer, Lingard opted to switch to Nottingham Forest.
That snub will have hurt many West Ham fans, who may not be so kind to the player if he does earn a short-term contract this season.
For now, however, the 30-year-old is only training with the Hammers, seemingly to get his fitness back up after the summer break.
That will be doing the attacker the world of good as he seeks his new club, which may just turn out to be his former team West Ham.
In other West Ham news, a Hammers-linked player is “attracted” by a move to the London Stadium this summer.
