Jermain Defoe blown away by West Ham United transfer for Danny Ings in January
Jermain Defoe has raved about West Ham United striker Danny Ings, saying he is a “top, top player”.
Ings joined the Hammers in the January transfer window from Aston Villa, and Defoe is confident that the 30-year-old will score a lot of goals for the club.
Speaking to football.london, Defoe has suggested that Ings “could be the difference” for the club as the Hammers are fighting to stay away from the relegation battle in the Premier League.

Ings has made two appearances in the Premier League for West Ham so far, managing just 27 minutes. He is yet to open his scoring account for his new club.
“He’s top, what a signing that is,” said Defoe to football.london.
“He likes that kit doesn’t he, Danny Ings? Burnley, Villa and now, he likes that colour kit.
“I think he will do well. He is someone who is a top, top player, top, top player, goalscorer. He will score a lot of goals there. That is the signing they need I think, I think that is the one and now they have got him in, I think he could be the difference.”
Hope for the best
The Hammers surprised everyone by signing Ings in the January window.
He was the top scorer at Aston Villa and yet he wasn’t playing regularly under Unai Emery. The former Liverpool striker pounced on the opportunity when West Ham made an effort to sign him, and he was keen to make the switch.
It goes to show that Ings is hungry to prove a point and play regularly. He is a natural goalscorer who has got loads of Premier League experience and can be a lethal weapon for the Hammers.

Gianluca Scamacca is currently out injured, and Moyes will pin his hopes on Ings to deliver in his absence. Michail Antonio, who was linked with a move away from the club in the January window, remains another option for Moyes, but Ings is a special player who can really win matches if he is given proper services.
The recent results have been encouraging for the Hammers, but they have two tough London derbies coming up in the Premier League. Let’s hope, they can pick up positive results against Chelsea and Tottenham in the next two games.
