Jefferson Lerma has offers on table amid West Ham United links

Bournemouth midfielder Jefferson Lerma has “offers on the table” as West Ham United eye the Colombian international, according to Italian journalist, Matteo Moretto.

According to TEAMtalk (6 May), the Hammers are interested in signing the 28-year-old midfielder, with his deal at Bournemouth set to expire.

Morreto has since suggested (via Twitter, 8 May), that Lerma has offers on the table from teams in Italy, Spain and England.

It’s believed Aston Villa, West Ham, Leeds and Newcastle United are the Premier League sides who are interested in the Bournemouth man.

Astute

With Lerma’s contract up in the summer, this could prove to be an astute piece of business from the Hammers. The Colombian is an experienced Premier League campaigner who would soften the blow if and when Declan Rice does depart the London Stadium.

It’s looking more and more likely that the England international will exit, and realistically, who can blame him? The 24-year-old’s performances keep going from strength to strength. He’s destined to play in the Champions League and it’s essential the Hammers replace him effectively.

West Ham

They’re a far weaker side when Rice isn’t commanding things in the centre of the park. The pressure is now firmly on the board to invest again in the summer of 2023. Apart from the Conference League campaign, this season has been extremely disappointing.

There are a number of players who are ageing and could well be moved on in order to take David Moyes’ squad to the next level and back into the top ten.
