Jeff Stelling in stitches live on air at Kurt Zouma jibe after West Ham United transfer news
Jeff Stelling and Ally McCoist were left in stitches after talkSPORT host Shebahn Aherne made a joke at the expense of West Ham defender Kurt Zouma.
The 29-year-old’s move to Shabab Al-Ahli in the UAE has collapsed due to medical history issues, according to The Times, though both parties are trying to resurrect a deal.
With the centre-back’s exit now thrown into uncertainty, jokes referring to Zouma being fined for a social media video of him kicking a cat two-and-a-half years ago have surfaced.
Speaking live via talkSPORT on Tuesday (13 August, 6:29am), Aherne said: “Zouma’s move to the UAE League has failed because he didn’t pass his medical… Failed his CAT scan.”
Stelling burst into laughter, saying: “Oh, stop it. Very good,” while McCoist simply replied: “I like it. I like it, Shebahn.”
West Ham United ready to move on Kurt Zouma
While Zouma’s controversial moment has been rarely mentioned since the incident happened, it is likely to be something that follows him around for the rest of his life.
Fans are sometimes caught wearing masks of the Hammers centre-half, but the club look to finally be breaking off their link with the player.
He has been the captain at the London Stadium in recent seasons, with David Moyes trusting him with the responsibility, but after last season in the Premier League, it was time for a revamp in defence.

Zouma, alongside Nayef Aguerd, Konstantinos Mavropanos and Angelo Ogbonna conceded a whopping 74 goals in the league last term, with only Luton Town, Burnley and Sheffield United shipping more.
Julen Lopetegui has already taken those concerns into account, adding Max Kilman and Jean-Clair Todibo to the squad ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
Hopefully, that instantly makes things better as the new season gets underway in a matter of days.
