Jean-Clair Todibo flies out as new West Ham injury update shared

West Ham United defender Jean-Clair Todibo has returned to France to potentially have his ankle injury assessed, according to Sean Whetstone.

The West Ham insider shared via his personal X account (7 January) that specialists may have to assess the damage that has been done.

The Frenchman was taken off the pitch in the Hammers’ 4-1 defeat to Manchester City and it remains to be seen what the extent of the damage is.

“Hearing that Jean-Clair Todibo has flown back to France today perhaps to have his injury assessed by specialists,” former Six-foot-two editor and Hammers expert Whetstone wrote.

“Todibo came off injured in West Ham’s 4-1 defeat against Man City last week.”

West Ham United need Jean-Clair Todibo back to full fitness soon

Although this season hasn’t gone the way that many expected it to for the Hammers, it still feels like Todibo has made a solid impact when called upon.

Of course, there have been times when it’s felt like the Frenchman isn’t quite up to Premier League standards just yet but when he’s used alongside Max Kilman, it’s clear there’s some potential in that partnership.

The former nice defender was brought in to help shore up the Hammers’ defensive ranks and while he hasn’t exactly done that yet, his potential is evident.

At the moment, it’s unclear how long the centre-back is set to be out for but it feels like the longer he’s sidelined, the worse things could get for Julen Lopetegui and his men.

They may not be in the drop zone just yet but as the Hammers only have a seven-point gap between themselves and the bottom three, it’s clear that things could turn around in an instant which wouldn’t be ideal for anyone involved.
