Jason Cundy hails ‘Phenomenal’ David Moyes for signings at West Ham
West Ham have as good a chance as anyone to qualify for the Champions League, according to ex-Chelsea defender Jason Cundy.
The Hammers currently sit in fourth spot in the Premier League after 25 league matches played. However, their chances took a knock on Saturday with a 2-1 defeat to Manchester City.
As shown in a clip on the talkSPORT Twitter account, Cundy revealed he sees Moyes’ side as very much part of the conversation. He said: “I feel that this top four talk has become more of a belief as opposed to just talk.
“Now we’re talking about West Ham coming in and the talk of top four. I don’t think it’s too premature for West Ham to be in the conversation.
“Whether they’re going to have enough to stay, that’s what it’s going to be about. It’s a long race this.
“Right now West Ham have done brilliantly. David Moyes has been phenomenal. [Tomas] Soucek and some of the acquisitions they’ve made, they’re a good team.
“I enjoy watching West Ham.”
In with a chance
After 25 matches played, we’re not fourth in the table by fluke.
Champions League football may be a very big ask. But, there is certainly every reason to believe we could have European football at the London Stadium next season.
To echo Cundy, bringing in Tomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal has been very important, but for more than you’d think initially. The two are born winners. During their time playing in the Czech Republic, both players won the league with Slavia Prague.
You only had to look at Coufal at full-time yesterday to see what the defeat meant to hi. Crouched down with his head in his hands, the right-back was distraught to lose to the league leaders.
It’s this kind of attitude that has helped see a big change at West Ham. He has an incredible winning mentality.
Having joined after we started the season, Coufal has featured in every game since coming into the side. He’s spurred us on to take 23 points from a possible 30 since the turn of the year.
We don’t think the club will ever make a better signing with regards to value for money. How was he valued at just £5million?
In other West Ham news, Moyes is proud of his players despite the 2-1 defeat.
