Jason Burt: Fans mock Ole and Man United during West Ham v Man City
Manchester City fans did not come away from their trip to the London Stadium with just a defeat against West Ham.
They enjoyed chanting in the away end and mocking Manchester United and their fans with the classic “Ole’s at the wheel” chant.
The Hammers ended up with the last laugh, beating the defending champions 5-3 on penalties after 0-0 in regulation time, but it was an atmosphere that most enjoyed on Wednesday night.
Via his personal Twitter account, Telegraph’s Jason Burt wrote, “At West Ham where the Man City fans are delighting in singing: Ole’s at the wheel.”
Love to see
Manchester United fans have been one of the worst to bear in current years so it’s nice to see them receiving some payback.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s clearly an unpopular figure among the fans of the Manchester club but he’s become like a laughing stock for rival fans.
We’re not certain about whether or not Irons fans joined in the chants, but we think a few might have as it’s now become a trend at most venues.
Coming back to the game, it was a top display from David Moyes and his men and they deserve the utmost credit for coming away with a win.
The boss made eight changes as he expected the Citizens to win comfortably and he didn’t think it made sense to play his first choice players.
But, the fringe players that came in, played their hearts out and left everything on the pitch.
An absolutely fantastic display from the team and we couldn’t be more proud.
