Jarrod Bowen wows to hit West Ham achievement despite injury news

West Ham forward Jarrod Bowen was picked in Garth Crooks’ team of the week following his performance and goal in the 2-2 draw with Liverpool on 27 April.

Bowen opened the scoring against Liverpool with his 16th Premier League goal of the season, and 20th in all competitions, on his first domestic start since picking up a hip injury earlier this month.

In his team of the week selections, Crooks picked Bowen as one of two West Ham players alongside Michail Antonio, commending the England winger’s scoring milestone.

Crooks said: “Bowen took advantage of Liverpool’s poor form by netting his 20th goal of the season.

“A superb landmark for any player, especially one who has had his fair share of injuries.”

West Ham Europe hopes rest on shoulders of brilliant Bowen

West Ham drawing 2-2 with Liverpool not only halted a dismal run of back-to-back defeats for the Irons but also put a huge dent in the Reds’ hopes of securing the Premier League title.

Antonio’s header, described as “superb” by Crooks, secured a point for the Hammers late on, with he and Bowen providing the hosts with an attacking outlet as they hung on for a deserved draw.

Jarrod Bowen has scored some important goals for West Ham United this season.

That draw leaves West Ham eighth in the table having played more games than most of the sides around them, and with a five-point gap to bridge between themselves and Manchester United in sixth.

Bowen’s 16 strikes have undoubtedly kept West Ham in the conversation to reach Europe for a fourth consecutive season, masking some inconsistent form from David Moyes’ side, and he’ll be keen to smash through the 20-goal barrier in the Premier League with just three games remaining.

Mohammed Kudus (seven), James Ward-Prowse, Tomas Soucek and Antonio (all six) are way behind Bowen in West Ham’s Premier League scoring charts, and if the Hammers are to make it back onto the continent next season, it’s time for the rest of the squad to step up to his level.
