Jarrod Bowen ‘world-class’ footage stuns Match of the Day in West Ham loss
West Ham United’s capitulation late on at Brighton & Hove Albion has unfortunately summed up their anti-climactic campaign in the Premier League.
The 17th-placed Hammers looked to have come back from a half-time deficit to take all three points away at Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday (27 April), only to lose out in the dying embers of the contest.
There were positives for Graham Potter to build from as he returned to his former home, but Irons fans just want 2024-25 over with now and a clean slate in pre-season.

Jarrod Bowen raved over on MOTD for ‘world-class’ moment
West Ham have enjoyed the occasional memorable away win despite their drastically underwhelming season.
It looked as if they would be giving their huge bulk of travelling fans something to cheer about when Tomas Soucek headed their side in front with seven minutes of normal time remaining.
Mohammed Kudus had equalised just after the break and the Hammers were in the driving seat, but the cruel blow just adds more misery to the campaign.
The assist for the Soucek goal came via a stunning delivery from skipper Bowen, which was raved over by Steph Houghton on BBC Match of the Day (26 April, 27:27).
“This is just Bowen in a nutshell. Wanting to get on the ball, wanting to drive his team forward,” Houghton said.
“But this is a world-class cross; there’s no defender stopping that. If you want one person on the end of it from West Ham United’s point of view, it’s Tomas Soucek.”
The cross became Bowen’s seventh Premier League assist of this season, a high among the West Ham squad.

West Ham have four to go as fans frustrated
West Ham fans may want the season to come to a close, which isn’t far away now with their side fourth from bottom and the three below them having sealed their relegation fate.
They will be hoping with all their might they will not be seeing the last of Bowen in claret and blue over the final few games.
The England man has a contract until 2030 which does keep the Hammers in a strong position regarding his future, and he has always remained content and committed at the London Stadium.
POS | Premier League table | PLD | PTS | GD |
16 | Tottenham Hotspur | 33 | 37 | +10 |
17 | WEST HAM UNITED | 34 | 36 | -19 |
18 | Ipswich | 34 | 21 | -41 |
19 | Leicester | 34 | 18 | -49 |
20 | Southampton | 34 | 11 | -55 |
Bowen had been linked with Liverpool had they decided to part ways with Mohamed Salah, but the contract extension for the Premier League’s leading goalscorer at Anfield likely deals West Ham a helping hand.
Next up for the Irons is a London derby with Tottenham Hotspur – another side beleaguered in the league this season – next Sunday (4 May).
