West Ham

Here, West Ham Zone has rated the players out of ten for their performance against Manchester City

Lukasz Fabianski -8

Top penalty save in a crucial moment in the game. Couldn’t have done anything about both of City’s goals. Made some fairly routine saves and commanded his area very well.

Aaron Cresswell – 5

Much like the rest of West Ham’s defence, Cresswell was defending for much of this game. He occasionally got turned inside out by Riyad Mahrez but for the most part, he did a good job. Could have offered more attacking output.

Kurt Zouma – 6

Won his fair share of headers and looked relatively comfortable dealing with City’s barrage of crosses. Didn’t put a foot wrong.

Craig Dawson – 7

Dawson was immense in the first half with Kevin De Bruyne finding it near enough impossible to get past the defender. He will be annoyed couldn’t block Jack Grealish’s strike for City’s first goal.

Vladimir Coufal – 4

Poor misjudgement for City’s equaliser. The right-back wasn’t aware of his surroundings and probably could’ve positioned himself better. Offered very little attacking threat throughout.

Declan Rice – 6

Rice was left with the tough task of trying to contain City’s midfield. Rice tried to drive his side forward whenever he could and stood up to the test of City’s stellar midfield well.

Tomáš Souček – 6

Won his fair share of headers and defended well. Wasn’t a threat from set-pieces which was surprising and could’ve offered more of an attacking threat at times. Nearly notched a brilliant headed assist for Bowen in the 75th minute.

West Ham

Jarrod Bowen – 9

What a signing Bowen has been. He has everything a modern day wide player needs. His darting runs inside caused Manchester City all sorts of problems in the first half. His movement was the catalyst for both of his goals in the first half. The winger showed a superb finishing ability and composure for both of his goals. His stock just keeps getting larger and larger.

Manuel Lanzini – 6

Hard-working display from the midfielder, but really struggled to influence the game in an attacking sense. Nevertheless, when he plays he is a crucial cog in David Moyes’ hard-working side.

Pablo Fornals – 7

Good battling display from Fornals, who was constantly winning the ball back off City’s midfielders. Was exactly what David Moyes would’ve wanted from the midfielder who adapted his game well.

Michail Antonio – 8

Tough ask to play as a loan striker against City but Antonio made a very good fist of it. Excellent play to assist Bowen’s second goal. He dropped quite deep in the second period but that was to be expected and held the ball up well. Should’ve done far better after going through on goal in the 66th minute.

Substitutes

Mark Noble (on for Lanzini, ’77) – 5

Ben Johnson (on for Fornals, ’90) – 5

Andriy Yarmolenko (on for Antonio, ’90) – 5
