Jarrod Bowen sends message as West Ham exit made official
Jarrod Bowen has thanked Julen Lopetegui for making him West Ham captain after being sacked as manager on Wednesday.
The Spaniard lost his job at the London Stadium on 8 January after poor results and performances became too much for the Hammers hierarchy to ignore.
Despite many supporters being pleased to see the ex-Real Madrid boss gone and Graham Potter set to come in, it is clear that Bowen enjoyed his spell under his management.
Taking to Instagram, the 28-year-old said: “You gave me the biggest honour of being captain for you and this team. Thank you for everything boss and good luck with your future.”
Jarrod Bowen thanks Julen Lopetegui after West Ham sack
There is no real surprise that Lopetegui has been sacked by the Irons after what has been a largely disappointing season.
The former Wolves head coach has failed to have a positive impact on the side in East London which has caused multiple poor results.
With heavy defeats against Liverpool and Manchester City in the past two games, it is safe to say that the Hammers’ hierarchy had enough.
Many fans backed this decision but it appears that at least some of the players enjoyed playing under the Spaniard regardless of the results and style of play.

Bowen reaching out in this fashion sums him up as a person and a player, proving exactly why Lopetegui opted to make him captain this summer.
Now supporters can look forward to seeing the captain featuring under Potter with a view to continuing his electric form in recent years in multiple positions in East London.
