Jarrod Bowen raves over ‘massively important’ Tomas Soucek after West Ham United win over Crystal Palace
Jarrod Bowen has lauded the performance of his West Ham United teammate Tomas Soucek during their 2-0 win against Crystal Palace.
The Hammers won their first game with Julen Lopetegui managing the squad and showed how much their team has improved over the course of the transfer window.
Speaking to West Ham’s official website after the game, Bowen singled out Tomas Soucek following his stellar performance against the Eagles, especially for his opening goal.
“He scores, and then he spins around for 10 minutes! No, he’s always in the right position, always gets chances,” Bowen said.
“It was the same last week as well against Aston Villa, he’s always, always in the right place, and he took the goal beautifully. I was hoping it was going to take another deflection and fall to my feet! I’m buzzing for him, and he deserves it.
“He was massively important to us getting over the line today to get the three points.”
Tomas Soucek could have an important role to play for West Ham this season
Recently described as “incredible” by his Czech Republic teammate Vladimir Coufal, Soucek has the ability to become a key cog in Lopetegui’s side this season.
Although many clubs have been reported to have an interest in the 29-year-old, it seems as if he’s set to stay at the London Stadium, for now at least.
Since the window opened, some fans have called for the midfielder to be replaced and even sold but it seems as if Soucek would like to stay and fight for his place [GiveMeSport, 20 August] in the Hammers’ squad rather than exit before 30 August.
And, whilst this might change with the potential arrival of Paris Saint-German ace Carlos Soler [AS, 24 August], it feels as if the Czech Republic international could still have a lot to offer the club.
Indeed, nothing is set in stone just yet and there is still plenty of time left in the window for things to change but following his performance against the Eagles, the midfielder’s future could already be sealed.
