Jarrod Bowen could have become farmer before starring for West Ham

The glitz and glamour of the Premier League couldn’t be further from the countryside but one West Ham star could’ve been a farmer himself.

Jarrod Bowen is on the fringes of the England squad having been the most productive English player in the top division this season and the star man for David Moyes.

Prior to joining Hull City, however, he could have given up his professional football dream to be a farmer in his hometown of Hereford where he made his senior debut in 2014.

The 25-year-old has revealed what it’s like in his hometown and that in another life, he might have stayed.

“Maybe in another life, I could have been up all night on the farm,” Bowen said, as quoted by the Daily Star. “The way of life back home is very country-orientated. There’s a lot of farms.

“There’s a lot of routes you can go…and football isn’t usually a route you go down.

“I used to go to the farm with grandad. Now it’s my uncle who owns one. I’d like a farm but when I speak to him, it’s too much hassle.”

Reality show in the making

We’ve seen Jeremy Clarkson make a very successful farm work having known nothing beforehand and it was a great watch too, why not the West Ham squad too?

Bowen has the contacts and probably the know-how to run the show but imagine if the whole squad got involved.

Craig Dawson and his sheepdog patrolling fields in a flat cap, Tomas Soucek keeping a very close eye on the potatoes and Manuel Lanzini the cattle farmer, nurturing succulent Argentinian style beef.

It’s quite a ridiculous thought in reality but maybe that is why it would be such a hilarious show (in a make-believe world it actually happens).

It might not see the same controversy of Clarkson’s own carnage but we’d definitely watch it!
