Jamie O’Hara and Jason Cundy argue over Declan Rice West Ham future

Jamie O’Hara and Jason Cundy are in disagreement over Declan Rice’s future at West Ham after their disappointing January window.

The Hammers had identified centre-back and a striker as their two priorities last month.

However, despite endless discussions, they failed to get either signing over the line and ended the window without any new player walking through the door.

Discussing his future live on talkSPORT, O’Hara said, “How do you think he feels? Does he want to leave?”

To which Cundy responded, “No but he’s got to be disappointed. You’re Declan Rice and you’re looking at what a season this could be. This season was a genuine chance to finish in the top four and win the Europa League.

“He’s turned down three contracts and you’re telling me he’s going to sign in the summer? In the summer he will have 18 months left on his deal and could leave.”

O’Hara snapped back claiming that he would have no reason to leave the Hammers.

“I don’t agree with it. Why does he need to leave? He’s playing at the highest level,” said the former Premier League midfielder.

Good chance

While we hate to admit it, there’s a good chance Rice decides to call it a day in the summer.

West Ham clearly have not shown enough ambition in the transfer window and there’s no reason why he would want to stay.

Former West Ham midfielder Declan Rice is now a senior player for England

He is one of the best midfielders in world football and deserves to be at a club in the Champions League, or at least aspiring to get there.

Given how shoddy their transfer business has been, that is not seeming likely.

David Moyes would bite your hand off if you offered him top six, which is surprising as the Irons have been in the top four for a number of weeks this season.
