Jamie O’Hara accuses West Ham United of killing themselves in brutal Lopetegui rant
Jamie O’Hara has torn West Ham United to shreds for letting go of David Moyes and replacing him with Julen Lopetegui.
The former Tottenham midfielder believes Moyes is the Hammers’ best manager in four decades and said that the East London club shot themselves in the foot by parting ways with the Scot.
O’Hara went on to label Lopetegui a “bang average” manager before adding that West Ham deserve the hardship they are facing under the Spaniard for moving on from Moyes.
“David Moyes brought them stability, he brought them a trophy, probably their best manager in the last 40 years”, O’Hara told Grosvenor Sport via X (26 October).
“He got them a European trophy and they wanted him out because they wanted to go to the next level. You’re at the next level with David Moyes, that was your level, that’s the ceiling.
“You were finishing sixth or seventh every season, you were getting Europa League football. They’ve messed it up again royally.
“Lopetegui, bang average manager. Players are all over the place. Defensively, they’re absolutely awful, gaps all over the pitch.
“And you’re telling me Lopetegui is better than David Moyes, absolutely not! You’re having a laugh, aren’t you?
“For me, West Ham have absolutely killed themselves. Serves them right, same old West Ham.”
West Ham United could regret replacing David Moyes with Julen Lopetegui
West United may already be regretting parting ways with Moyes as they now sit 15th in the Premier League after eight games.
They hoped Lopetegui would build on the foundation laid by the Scottish tactician and backed him with nine major signings, including Max Kilman, Jean-Clair Todibo, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Crysencio Summerville, in the summer.
However, they would not have expected to be sitting just five points above the relegation zone at this stage in the season.
Lopetegui retains the support of the West Ham hierarchy ahead of their game against Manchester United on Sunday (27 October) [The Daily Mai]), but is quickly running out of time at the London Stadium.

Should things not improve soon, Lopetegui could become the first Premier League manager to face the sack this season.
German-Croatian tactician Edin Terzic has already been mooted as a potential replacement for the former Wolves boss [Patrick Berger], but hopefully it does not come to that.
