West Ham striker Michail Antonio undergoes surgery

The football family really comes together at difficult moments like this and it has been genuinely heart warming to see the outpouring of love and support towards Antonio.

It was an extremely worrying situation on Saturday when the initial update about Antonio’s accident emerged and the hope is now that the 34-year-old can have a swift and speedy recovery having undergone surgery.

The likes of Gary Lineker and Jamie O’Hara are among those to have sent well-wishes publicly and fans from all over the country have joined together to send their own thoughts to Antonio and his family.

Things on the pitch become secondary after incidents like this and the priority for supporters, team-mates and the hierarchy at the club is obviously, and rightly Antonio.

He has been such a wonderful servant to this wonderful football club and everyone will continue to rally around him over the coming days and months.

In other West Ham news, a remarkable David Moyes return could be on the cards.
