Jamie Carragher questions controversial Jurgen Klopp footage as West Ham United draw v Liverpool

After controversial footage of an argument between Mohamed Salah and Jurgen Klopp emerged as Liverpool drew 2-2 against West Ham, Jamie Carragher has attempted to explain the dispute.

The former Liverpool defender suggested that the only reason the two could be arguing is if Klopp felt Salah had taken too long to prepare for his substitution.

Given that Michail Antonio’s equalising goal came just seconds after the incident could hint Klopp wanted to make the change earlier, in a decision which ultimately cost them their title challenge.

Taking to X after the incident, Carragher wrote: “The only reason a manager would be unhappy in this situation is the player took too long to be ready to come on.”

Controversial Jurgen Klopp and Mohamed Salah footage emerges in Liverpool v West Ham

Frustrations at Liverpool are sky-high as things stand, with an awful run of form during which they have taken just eight points from a possible 18 costing them their position in the title race as Arsenal and Manchester City continue to battle.

For Salah, no open-play goals in his last eight games in all competitions will come as further frustration, and when paired with the manager’s decision to bench him as a result of his inconsistent displays, it seems tension is beginning to boil over.

The Reds were pinned back by Antonio’s header after a Jarrod Bowen cross, earning David Moyes’ team an impressive point despite their opponents’ recent form, but it is unlikely to be enough to put them back in with a shout at European qualification.

With speculation swirling about Moyes’ future at the London Stadium, results like that won’t do his position any harm, but the overwhelming feeling is that a decision has already been made after recent poor performances.
