Jamie Carragher makes new West Ham prediction vs Bournemouth after ’embarrassment’

Jamie Carragher’s prediction for West Ham’s trip to Bournemouth on Saturday will leave supporters feeling optimistic.

West Ham have enjoyed back-to-back wins under Nuno Espirito Santo, and there is renewed optimism that he can lead the Hammers to safety.

The Cherries have enjoyed a brilliant start to the season under Andoni Iraola, but recent away defeats to Manchester City and Aston Villa have left them sitting in ninth place in the Premier League table.

Bournemouth are expected to beat West Ham as they look to consolidate their credentials in fighting for a European place this season.

However, Carragher believes that West Ham could capitalise on Bournemouth’s recent form and claim an unlikely point at the Vitality Stadium.

Jamie Carragher predicts draw for Bournemouth vs West Ham

The Cherries are unbeaten at home, and they’ve had to contend with tough away fixtures that have hurt their recent form.

Making his prediction for Super 6, Carragher believes the match will finish 1-1, with Bournemouth potentially reeling from their 4-0 defeat to Aston Villa on 9 November.

He said: “Bournemouth will be eager to bounce back after their embarrassment at Villa Park, but West Ham have got back-to-back wins in the league and will take a point.”

Last five matches between West Ham vs Bournemouth

West Ham are unbeaten in eight matches against Bournemouth, although the gulf in class between both teams is the biggest it has been over the last decade.

A point would represent another step in the right direction, and it’s crucial that West Ham start the festive period full of confidence with games against Liverpool and Manchester United to come.

Callum Wilson should be expected to lead the lineup again after scoring his first goal at the London Stadium on 8 November versus Burnley, and he comes up against a side he spent six years at.

Wilson’s record against Bournemouth is excellent, and he’ll be aiming to score his third goal for the Hammers this season.

Callum Wilson can extend fantastic scoring streak vs Bournemouth

The 33-year-old secured Premier League promotion with the Cherries in 2014-15, but since he left the south coast, he has developed a brilliant goalscoring record against his former side for Newcastle.

Having registered 112 goal contributions in the top flight, Wilson is no stranger to digging his team out of trouble, and he did this excellently at both Bournemouth and Newcastle.

It’s up to him to prove that he still has a lot more to give at this level for the Hammers, and a goal on Saturday could be massive for his career in E20.

With Jarrod Bowen also in fine form, a positive result really isn’t out of the realms of possibility for Nuno’s side.
