James Ward-Prowse is set to miss West Ham training for the rest of this week after suffering a knock on Tuesday (5 September), according to Sean Whetstone.

The 6foot2editor tweeted on Wednesday (6 September) that the England international will return to Rush Green next Monday.

But he said the 28-year-old midfielder is expected to be fit for the game against Manchester City on 16 September after his promising start with the Irons.

Makes sense

It makes sense to give Ward-Prowse a few days to recover from his knock given that it's an international break and there isn't a game for over a week.

There was a fair bit of concern amongst the West Ham fans after it was revealed the midfielder had picked up an injury, but it appears to only be a minor issue.

He has had a superb start to life with the Hammers since making his £30million move from Southampton, having scored one goal and laid on three assists in his opening three games for the club.

Ward-Prowse will be looking to build upon those figures when he, hopefully, takes to the field against Manchester City at the London Stadium in just over a week's time.

The next few days will provide him with a bit of time to recover and take a breather after playing a major role in helping us pick up three straight victories following our promising start to the season.
