James McAtee reacts as late West Ham United exit confirmed with transfer announcement
West Ham have seen multiple players leave during what has been a busy transfer window.
Mohammed Kudus’ move to Spurs was the biggest outgoing for West Ham, whilst Nayef Aguerd’s deadline day exit brought in extra funds.
West Ham managed to find replacements for both of them before the transfer window closed for British clubs on 1 September.
However, one West Ham player’s exit has just been confirmed on Tuesday, leading to emotional farewell messages on social media.

James McAtee leads farewell messages for Wes Foderingham
Foderingham has left West Ham to join Cypriot side Aris Limassol on a free transfer.
Foderingham joined West Ham from Sheffield United last season, but failed to make an appearance for the club due to his role as third-choice goalkeeper.
New Nottingham Forest signing McAtee, who played for Sheffield United from 2022 to 2024, was among the players to wish him the best.
- James McAtee: “All the best, mate”
- Michael Verrips: “Good luck, bro.”
- Chris Basham: “Good luck, mate.”
The 34-year-old goalkeeper is now ready for a new challenge on the Mediterranean island, where he looks to get game time, which he wouldn’t get at West Ham.

Mads Hermansen under pressure as West Ham’s no. 1 goalkeeper
Hermansen’s start to life in E20 has not gone well, with mistakes against Sunderland and Chelsea heaping pressure on the new signing.
Hermansen has been criticised heavily by the media, and despite producing a steady performance against Forest, he’ll have to do much more to prove himself to West Ham fans.
The signing has meant that Alphonse Areola has been relegated to the bench, and with Foderingham having left, the Hammers are in search of a third goalkeeper.
Lukasz Fabianski has been linked with a return to East London, although nothing has been confirmed yet.
