Jacob Steinberg shares double update on West Ham deadline busting deals – report

West Ham have been dealt a double blow in their transfer chase for Duje Caleta-Car and Ben Brereton-Diaz, as they look to make signings before Monday’s deadline.

David Moyes wants to add to his squad before the transfer window closes, with a defender and a striker at the top of his wishlist as they look to push on in the race for a top-four.

But according to The Guardian’s Jacob Steinberg, their chances of bringing in the Marseille defender look ‘slim’ while there has been ‘not much movement’ for Blackburn striker Ben Brereton-Diaz.

The club are keen to bring players in but with the window set to shut on Monday at 11 pm, they are running out of time to make any deals happen.

The failure to bring anyone in means the club are unlikely to let players leave too, with Issa Diop linked with a move away from the club.

Blow

As West Ham continue to look at the transfer market, it seems as though they’re going to have to pull a rabbit out of the hat to get anything done.

They’re desperately in need of being bolstered in attack and defence as they look to make the Champions League places.

West Ham

They’ve struggled this season with consistent form and injuries, which has seen them recently drop to fifth in the Premier League.

Moyes has made it abundantly clear that he needs added depth to get through the rest of the season and finish as high as possible, so without any additions, the club are letting him down.

There is still time to make things right, but with every passing minute it gets harder and harder to do a deal and West Ham could find themselves with nothing for the second half of the season.
