Inter Milan in disagreement over West Ham United ace Gianluca Scamacca as ‘promise’ made

Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi is in disagreement with club chiefs over a transfer for West Ham striker Gianluca Scamacca, according to Calciomercato.

The Italian publication reported on its website on Monday (31 July) that Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio and Sports CEO Giuseppe Marotta want to sign Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun.

Calciomercato added that Inzaghi’s preference is Scamacca, with the manager handed a promise that his club will sign the Italian when they offload Joaquin Correa.

“The two names are those of Scamacca and Balogun who would take the places of Lukaku and possibly Correa,” according to Calciomercato.

“If it were up to Simone Inzaghi, we should immediately go to the former Sassuolo man and then calmly settle the other question.

“Opposite, however, is the opinion of Ausilio and Marotta who would like to immediately close Balogun and then deal with Scamacca, once the Correa problem has been resolved.

“Ausilio would be happy if the coach agreed to go immediately to Balogun, with the promise to take Scamacca immediately once Correa is sold.”

Inter seeking attackers

Inter are clearly in the market for a new striker this summer, with the club keen to get back on track in Serie A, and potentially go one better in next season’s Champions League after losing to Manchester City in the final last time out.

They have seemingly narrowed down their search to Balogun and Scamacca, two Premier League players whose futures have been uncertain since the beginning of the transfer window.

West Ham, however, are also in need of attacking talent if they are to successfully compete in the English top flight and the Europa League next season.

It remains to be seen if Scamacca will be part of David Moyes’s setup next time out, but for now the striker should be kept until the manager has an exact attacking plan in place.

The Scot does have Michail Antonio, Danny Ings and Divin Mubama to call upon, but that may not be enough given how the Hammers struggled in the Premier League last season.

In other West Ham news, a pundit has questioned the club’s move for one Premier League player as a Moyes sack verdict is shared.
