Inter Milan carefully following the situation of West Ham United striker Gianluca Scamacca

Gianluca Scamacca’s situation at West Ham is “carefully” being followed by Serie A giants Inter Milan ahead of a possible summer loan move, according to Sport Mediaset.

Inter are currently involved in a contract stalemate with former Manchester City and Roma striker Edin Dzeko, and are preparing for the possibility of a “farewell” this summer. Also, there are no guarantees that Romelu Lukaku’s loan from Chelsea will be made permanent.

Wantaway star, Scamacca, has been linked with a move away in recent weeks after being ditched by his agency, with AC Milan previously said to be interested [Pianeta Milan, 2 March].

Sport Mediaset [9 March] reveal that the Italian forward “not exactly enthusiastic about his current adventure in the Premier League at West Ham” is being closely followed by the blue half of Milan, as they prepare for the potential departures of Dzeko and Lukaku.

Give another chance

It’s clear Scamacca’s first season in England hasn’t worked out as initially planned, but so have many other footballers who have made the move from Serie A to the Premier League.

That doesn’t mean the Hammers should give up on the talented 24-year-old who has managed to register seven goals in all competitions for the Irons this season.

Scamacca isn’t the only West Ham signing that hasn’t hit the heights expected of him, with Lucas Paqueta and Thilo Kehrer also suffering the same fate.

However, the Hammers should hand Scamacca another chance to impress and they’ve got to convince him to stay in East London as he could well become a leading striker for the club for a few years. People forget, the Italian hitman is still young and has a lot of learning and development to undergo before he reaches his potential.

Will he continue his growth at the London Stadium next season? That’s the million-dollar question.
