Inkersole praises West Ham star for ‘world class’ moment v Bournemouth

West Ham United bounced back in a big way against Bournemouth on Wednesday, with barely an under-performer in their 4-0 victory.

Captain Mark Noble stole the headlines with a magnificent brace, while Brazilian playmaker Felipe Anderson finally opened his account for the season.

But it was the terrific strike from club record signing Sebastien Haller that will really have warmed the cockles of the West Ham fans.

The Frenchman found the back of the net after 25 minutes with a terrific acrobatic effort, something which caught the eye of Hammers correspondent Sam Inkersole.

“Bournemouth, decimated by injuries, were no match for the home side. Noble slotted home a penalty, Anderson scored his first goal since April, and then there was Haller,” he wrote on the Football London website.

“His goal was world class and, in a weird way, simple. Get the ball into the box where he is and he can make something happen.

“Pellegrini seemed to struggle to work out what to do with Haller, playing him as a lone striker, or in a two, whether he played long ball or into feet, he couldn’t get the best out of him.

“His goal was spectacular, swivelling to meet Fredericks’ cross on the volley and gave Ramsdale no chance. That’s what you pay £45m for. This was exactly what the doctor ordered.”

This was indeed a return to top form for the former Eintracht Frankfurt man, as he recorded his highest WhoScored rating (8.16) since his masterclass in the win over Southampton last month.
