Injury expert shares West Ham United update ahead of Brighton Premier League clash

Vladimir Coufal and Maxwel Cornet could both return for West Ham United’s Premier League clash against Brighton, according to injury expert Ben Dinnery.

Coufal missed the FA Cup defeat to Manchester United with a heel injury, but Dinnery has suggested the Czech Republic international has a “25 per cent” chance of playing on the South Coast (Premier injuries).

Cornet has been a long-term absentee but recently returned to training and Dinnery has suggested the Ivorian could make a return against the Seagulls.

West Ham

Łukasz Fabiański is the only player currently “ruled out” after sustaining a fractured cheekbone during the 4-0 win over Nottingham Forest.

Clearing up

The injury situation is certainly clearing up for Moyes – and that will come as a huge relief. Too many of his summer signings have been blighted by niggling issues over the course of the season.

Cornet coming back into contention will be a huge boost. The 26-year-old has been sidelined for the best part of five months and will add a new dynamic when he returns to full fitness. The former Burnley winger has the ability to play across a variety of positions, which could allow Moyes to change formation.

West Ham

Potentially utilising the Ivorian in a front two is a route for the West Ham boss to go down. He has been reluctant to play with two strikers, with Gianluca Scamacca and Michael Antonio being utilised in solo roles. Playing Cornet up alongside one of West Ham’s big men could certainly reap rewards.

The fixture against Brighton is followed by Aston Villa. Despite West Ham’s record against the Seagulls, they need to leave the South Coast with at least a point on the board.
