Injury Expert shares Southampton update ahead of Premier League showdown v West Ham United

Southampton duo Che Adams and Mohamed Salisu remain 50/50 doubts for the upcoming relegation showdown against West Ham United at the London Stadium, according to injury expert Ben Dinnery.

Saints boss Ruben Selles refused to rule out either player in his press conference on Friday (31 March), with Dinnery sharing that both players were currently being assessed for their injuries. [Hampshire Live]

Writing for the Premier Injuries website, he added that Juan Larios has been ruled out of the clash with a thigh injury, while the match comes too soon for defensive duo Valentino Livramento and Armel Bella-Kotchap, who are both ruled out for Sunday’s (2 April) encounter against David Moyes’ side.

The Hammers will look to claim all three points in this crucial relegation tussle, with tougher tests against the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Newcastle still awaiting in their last 12 games of the Premier League season.

Fine margins

Moyes will be hoping that both Adams and Salisu won’t be fit enough to make the six-pointer at the London Stadium on Sunday, with this match bearing huge importance on both clubs’ relegation chances.

If the Hammers hope to draw clear of the relegation zone over the coming weeks, it simply has to start now.

However, the West Ham United boss isn’t without his own injury issues, with Emerson, Nayef Aguerd and Gianluca Scamacca all doubtful for the showdown against the Saints.

In a tight game that could hinge on the use of substitutes and the quality coming off the bench, little injury niggles such as Adams and Salisu’ could be crucial.

With Bella-Kotchap also sidelined for this weekend, Moyes will hope that January recruit Danny Ings can cause some havoc in attack and reignite the goalscoring form that saw him net a crucial brace in the 4-0 win over Nottingham Forest.
