Injury Expert shares ‘ridiculous’ West Ham United injury update after Lucas Paqueta blow

Ben Dinnery has shared a “ridiculous” update on West Ham injuries, after Lucas Paqueta suffered a blow in the 2-0 win against Arsenal on 28 December.

The injury expert claimed via his Twitter account [29 December] that the Hammers’ lack of injury issues is a surprise given the number of games they have played and the high incident rates across other Premier League clubs this season.

West Ham rank as the best-placed team when it comes to time lost and days lost through injuries, as well as incident rates per thousand minutes played in the Premier League.

Keep your fingers crossed

It would be fair to suggest that the Hammers have been lucky with injuries so far this season, often able to field their ideal first-choice side while others in the league have suffered heavy injury issues with the increased number of blows becoming apparent.

Take Brighton for example. They, like West Ham, have participated in the Europa League as well as domestic competitions, so will have played the same amount of football, but have suffered a far worse injury crisis than has been seen in East London.

Dinnery’s website Premier Injuries displays that Brighton currently have eight first-team injuries, with the likes of Ansu Fati, Kaoru Mitoma and Joel Veltman all long-term absentees, while the Hammers’ injuries are largely short-term with Kurt Zouma and Nayef Aguerd expected to return soon.

West Ham

With a busy festive schedule ongoing, and the injury blow to Lucas Paqueta against Arsenal, the luck in East London may start to run out, and fingers should be kept crossed that they don’t suffer many more blows in the coming weeks.
