Injury expert: Early West Ham United team news v Brentford as David Moyes sack talk emerges

West Ham United could be without four players for their next Premier League as the pressure on David Moyes ramps up after their latest defeat to Arsenal.

A second-half capitulation from the Hammers resulted in a comfortable win for the Gunners following a nervy first half for the Premier League table toppers.

The Athletic have suggested (27 December) that there’s some doubt over whether the Scot will be in charge for the Hammers’ FA Cup game against Brentford on 7 January, but before that the Irons face the Bees in the Premier League in what is shaping up to be a huge game for Moyes.

West Ham

The West Ham boss could be without Gianluca Scamacca and Nayef Aguerd for the game at the London Stadium, with injury expert Ben Dinnery suggesting both players have a 25 per cent chance of playing (Premier injuries website). Kurt Zouma and Maxwel Cornet are both ruled out of the fixture against Thomas Frank’s side.

Huge

This fixture could be absolutely huge when it comes to Moyes’ future at the club. The Scot has been under fire this season and the latest defeat to Arsenal has heaped further pressure on his shoulders. It was always going to be a tough task to beat the Gunners, but fans will be frustrated with the manner of the defeat.

His side were extremely competent in the first half and looked like a threat against the Premier League leaders. Sadly, the way the Hammers threw away their lead was an accurate representation of their season thus far.

West Ham

With January fast approaching, it seems as if the Brentford game could be pivotal. A victory could see Moyes given the trust of the board for the upcoming transfer window.

However, another bad performance and a defeat could see his time at the London Stadium come to an end, in what will be a crucial month for the Hammers.
