‘Incredible every season’ – Coufal claims Soucek form for West Ham no surprise
West Ham summer signing Vladimir Coufal has revealed he’s not surprised at the goals return of Tomas Soucek this season.
The two Czech Republic internationals have been a huge hit at the London Stadium after both of them joined from Slavia Prague.
Speaking to TalkSPORT’s Ian Abrahams, Coufal discussed their close friendship and how Soucek recommended him to the management staff.
He said: “I had been in contact with Tomas, he recommended me here and the manager asked him about me. I had some news from Tomas that West Ham were interested.
“(Been friends for) a long time, maybe four years when he came to Slovan Iberic on loan.
“Tomas is incredible every season which I’ve played with him, I’m not surprised he’s scored a lot of goals here. He’s shown his quality and I’m not surprised.
“I miss fans. I try to play always for fans, sometimes I am a little bit more emotional than I should be but I can’t change myself.
“I look forward to hearing the fans singing blowing bubbles, it will be incredible I think.”
Fan favourites
It’s such a shame that we haven’t been able to watch West Ham live at all during the 2020/21 campaign.
Undoubtedly the best season since our stadium move, we’ve made some fantastic singings and none better than these two.
Coufal and Soucek just get it. They’re exactly what every West Ham fan wants from someone in claret and blue. Tireless work rate, creative flair and tough character.
Coufal has missed just five minutes of action in his 18 appearances thus far, whilst Soucek has played in every of West Ham’s 2,120 minutes in the Premier League this season.
Between them, they’ve been directly involved in just under a third of our goals in the top-flight. Soucek has eight goals and is our leading scorer, whilst Coufal has registered three assists thus far.
It’s nice to hear that the number five is looking forward to playing in front of fans. He and Soucek are sure to receive a heroes reception once we’re its safe for us to pack back into the London Stadium.
