Ian Wright showers praise on Kurt Zouma

Ian Wright is thrilled by West Ham United centre-back Kurt Zouma following his impressive start to life at the London Stadium.

The France international, 27, joined the Hammers in the summer from Chelsea and has established himself as David Moyes’ first-choice at the back.

Zouma never managed to become a regular at Stamford Bridge, often getting in and out of the team, and regular BBC Match of the Day pundit Wright believes he has become an improved player within a short while at West Ham.

The former striker said on the latest episode of Wrighty’s House: “Kurt Zouma looks amazing. Honestly, he looks amazing.

“You look at him at Chelsea and you feel there is a jittery about him. You can play the ball to him and it’s like, ‘get to Kurt’.

“Now, you look at him, and you think, he’s accomplished because he knows he’s a mainstay. He’s got brilliant coaches there to help him, and he’s going to play. He’s playing in the team with unbelievable energy.”

Brilliant

Zouma has featured in all of West Ham’s last six Premier League games, and has come to stay in the starting XI.

The Hammers spent around £30million on his signature in the summer [BBC], and Moyes knew exactly what he wanted, urging the owners to splash the cash on the Frenchman.

He has been rewarded with some fine defensive performances thus far, with West Ham losing just two of the games the defender has featured in.

They have won the last three, keeping two clean sheets, and Zouma is definitely establishing himself as a key player for the side.

He could end up becoming a starter for France if he keeps impressing and improving, and he is surely enjoying his new team after the struggles at Chelsea.

West Ham need a solid defence if they want to challenge for major silverware this term and play Champions League football next season.

In Zouma, they have got a rock-solid centre-back, and such quality recruitment going forward will definitely get them regularly challenging for the top-four.
