Ian Wright reacts to Michail Antonio goal in West Ham United win v Fulham

Ian Wright has been left furious with Michail Antonio’s goal as West Ham won 3-1 against Fulham on Sunday (10 October) in the Premier League.

Gianluca Scamacca scored for a third successive game, while Jarrod Bowen also got his name on the scoresheet as the Hammers now secure back-to-back wins in the Premier League.

In the build-up to Antonio’s goal, it appeared that the ball had touched his hands, and Wright feels that failing it spot that is a “ridiculous” decision.

West Ham

“Ridiculous. Handball is a handball. It doesn’t make any difference (scored in first attempt). It’s still handball. You cannot correct the handball. That’s just ridiculous. Stupid,” said Wright on Premier League Tv Production after the game (9 October).

Three points

In the 91st minute of the game, Antonio, who came on as a sub, got the final goal to make it 3-1 for the Hammers.

It was an untidy goal, to be honest, and Antonio should have finished it the first time which was saved by Leno.

However, a farcical mix up with the Fulham defender in the box allowed the striker to net home.

Did the ball touch his arm? After replays, it shows that it did touch his arm, but the goal stands.

West Ham

Sometimes you have to ride your luck, and this was one of those days. It was a solid performance from the Hammers though, and they thoroughly deserve all three points.

After a poor start to the season, it seems like the Hammers have found their mojo back. Antonio is a powerful striker and he gives a different dimension to the attack, especially when the opposition defence is tiring.
