Ian Abrahams blasts Roy Keane over West Ham United ‘clickbait’ after outburst on ITV

TalkSPORT presenter Ian Abrahams hit out at Roy Keane after his “clickbait” outburst live on ITV on Wednesday night about West Ham midfielder Declan Rice.

Ahead of the Hammers’ FA Cup fifth-round tie live on ITV [1 March, 7:20pm] with Manchester United, presenter Mark Pougatch suggested that Rice could be undertaking an auction ahead of a potential Old Trafford move.

Man United legend Keane responded, criticising the player’s performances this season and blasting the player for his lack of goals and assists from defensive midfield.

And speaking on talkSPORT breakfast [2 March], Abraham’s blasted the former Manchester United man saying he only made those comments for “clickbait”.

He said: “I don’t understand where Roy Keane is coming from.

“Maybe it’s because he wants to get some clickbait or he wants people to talk about what he’s saying on Rice but this is an outstanding player.

“This is a £100million footballer who regardless of what Roy Keane says, his old club would love to sign, you know, Liverpool, who are in for Jude Bellingham, would like to sign him.

“I’m pretty certain that clubs like Chelsea and certainly Arsenal want to sign as well. If all the big clubs in this country pretty much want to sign you then I think you’re probably a bit wrong in your criticism.”

Accurate

Abrahams is incredibly accurate in his assessment of Keane’s absurd comments.

The Manchester United legend was certainly looking for clickbait as half of the country you’d think would disagree with what he said about Rice. This is arguably England’s most finest defensive midfielder right now, and he’s proved it time and time again over the last few campaigns.

He also proved he is one of the best during the World Cup in Qatar in December. Let’s not forget the silly opinion Keane had about Rice not getting goals and assists which is totally irrelevant as that is not a defensive midfielder’s job nowadays.

The roles a defensive midfield are expected to fulfil in the modern game, Rice performs to perfection every week in the Premier League.

He is easily a £100m player as Abrahams so rightly says, considering his ability at this moment in time, his incredible potential and ceiling and the fact that all the top clubs across the country are desperate to sign him. So what is Keane talking about?
