‘He’ll have some takers’ – Bent claims £100k-a-wk West Ham ace will have suitors in Jan window

There would be plenty of suitors for Jack Wilshere should West Ham decide to sell him next month, according to Darren Bent.

The midfielder has struggled to make a real impact in east London since signing from Arsenal in a deal believed to be worth around £100,000-a-week [Spotrac].

And it is understood that the Hammers could be willing to listen to offers for the 27-year-old, as per Football Insider.

If they do decide to get rid of Wilshere, Bent is of the opinion that they won’t have to look far for a buyer.

Speaking to Football Insider, he said: “I think he’ll have some takers because he’s a good player.

“There will be some takers but it’s just like where’s he going to fit in? Jack Wilshere is a very, very good player, I still really rate him. The only thing that’s hindered him a little bit is injuries which has killed him a bit.

“Hopefully he can go somewhere, get a fresh start and get over his injuries and go from there but it’s really tough. I’ve always been a big fan of his but it’s just one of those things.”

But Wilshere’s is a strange case right now.

Nobody can deny that the lad has talent.

On his day, there are still very few players in the Premier League like he can.

The issues is that years of injuries and various niggles have ensured that in recent times it has been his day less and less.

So far this season, for example, he has averaged just 0.2 successful dribbles and zero key passes per game for West Ham, as per Whoscored.

Couple that with his exorbitant wages and his dreadful injury record, and you can’t help questioning what Bent is saying here.

Unless he is willing to take a sizeable pay cut, shifting Wilshere will be no easy task.
