Harry Redknapp predicts outcome of West Ham United v Fiorentina live on Sky Sports

Harry Redknapp believes Fiorentina are a “middle-of-the-road” side and West Ham United should defeat them to claim the Europa Conference League trophy.

David Moyes’ side have the opportunity to win the club’s first piece of silverware since 1980 when they take on the Italian outfit at the Eden Arena in Prague on Wednesday night (7 June).

The Hammers have won 11 of their 12 Europa Conference League outings this season, with the 1-1 draw against Gent in the quarter-finals the one blemish on their campaign.

Speaking live on Sky Sports, and as shared by Football Daily on Twitter, Redknapp said: “Listen, it’s a competition and they want to win it.

“They’ve got Fiorentina now, and they should beat Fiorentina, they’re a middle-of-the-road Italian team.

“I think they’ve got a great chance to go on and win it, so full credit to them.

“It’s great, the fans are loving it, and they’re great supporters, so I’m pleased to see them get to a final, and I’m sure they’ll win it.”

Huge

After a hit-and-miss Premier League season, it feels like West Ham United have peaked at the perfect time for this Europa Conference League final.

Looking across the Hammers squad, a vast number of players have started to find their best form in the last few weeks, including Lucas Paqueta, Declan Rice and Jarrod Bowen.

This should hopefully be enough for Moyes’ side to overcome Fiorentina, who haven’t had the best domestic campaign in Serie A, finishing 8th and six points off the European places.

The chance of some elusive silverware would make the 2022/23 season a hugely successful one, despite finishing 14th in the Premier League, and surely grant Moyes the opportunity to manage the team moving forward.

Victory tonight would also be the perfect send-off for Declan Rice if he decides to move on from the London Stadium this summer.

He deserves this opportunity after years of hard graft in the heart of the Hammers midfield.
