‘Superb’ – Harry Redknapp delivers verdict on West Ham’s season and recent transfer business
Harry Redknapp believes that Jarrod Bowen is an ‘inspired’ signing by West Ham and paid tribute to the work David Moyes has done this season.
The Hammers have impressed one of their former managers this season as the club is well clear of a relegation scrap and challenging amongst the European places in the Premier League.
Speaking in his column in The Sun, Redknapp claimed that the signing of Vladimir Coufal is a bargain and praised Moyes’ work this season.
He said, “He’s [Moyes] done a superb job so far and really got the best out of what he has. I love the right-back Vladimir Coufal, a £5million quid bargain.
“Jarod Bowen, at £22m, was an inspired buy. Declan Rice gets better with every week, midfielder Tomas Soucek is effective, strong and powerful. And with Michail Antonio upfront they have pace.
“They won’t finish top six but if they get top half, David has done a brilliant job. If you ask me, the club’s owners should be drawing up a new deal for him now.”
Despite Redknapp’s assertion that the Hammers won’t achieve a top-six finish this season, there is plenty of evidence to suggest that the Irons can battle it out with the top sides in the Premier League.
Already this season the Hammers have beaten Leicester and drawn against Tottenham and Manchester City.
Coupled with impressive wins over Wolves and Leeds this is evidence that West Ham have been one of the better sides in the Premier League this season.
It will be some achievement if a European finish is achieved but there is no doubting Redknapp’s other thoughts about the Hammers’ recent transfer business.
Coufal, Bowen and Soucek are some of the best West Ham signings in recent years and they have been integral to the club’s progress this season.
If West Ham can continue their impressive form then they will be up towards the European places come the end of the season and that will be a magnificent achievement.
In other West Ham news, this player has said goodbye to his team-mates ahead of a January move to the London Stadium.
