Harry Redknapp answers West Ham SOS after Nuno Espirito Santo sack news
Nuno Espirito Santo is under huge pressure at West Ham United after another Premier League defeat.
West Ham were beaten 2-1 by Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night, a result that leaves them seven points adrift of safety.
The Hammers did go ahead in the contest, Murillo heading into his own net after just 13 minutes, before Crysencio Summerville had a goal ruled out for offside.
Forest came roaring back after the VAR intervention, Nicolas Dominguez equalising moments after Summerville’s strike was chalked off, with Morgan Gibbs-White’s penalty proving to be the winner for Sean Dyche’s side.
Amid the current disarray, Harry Redknapp has offered his services to West Ham.
Harry Redknapp offers to manage West Ham for free
As a player, Redknapp came through the West Ham academy before making 149 league appearances for the senior side.
The 78-year-old then returned to the East London club in 1992 as assistant to Billy Bonds, before being appointed as manager in 1994.
Redknapp spent seven years in charge at West Ham, helping develop the likes of Joe Cole, Rio Ferdinand, and Michael Carrick in what was a successful spell at Upton Park.
Now, with the Hammers starting down the barrel of relegation from the Premier League, Redknapp has revealed he would be willing to return to management for free.
Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: “I’d work for nothing. I’d go anywhere if someone rang me up, I’d go and do it for nothing.
“I really would, I’d enjoy it. It’s not the money. I’d enjoy going in and being around the players. I love it.”
Nuno Espirito Santo sack latest
West Ham have won just two of their 16 Premier League games since Nuno took over from Graham Potter in September.
The Hammers are on a run of 10 games without a win, and after defeats to Wolves and Nottingham Forest, the 51-year-old is on the verge of the sack.
However, West Ham are reportedly set to stick with Nuno for now, with the board feeling that the performance against Forest was an improvement, despite the result.
The East London side face QPR in the FA Cup on Saturday, and don’t play in the Premier League again until 17 January, when they take on fellow strugglers Tottenham.
