Harrison Ashby exit could open West Ham United door for Ola Aina

Harrison Ashby’s West Ham future is very much up in the air – and should he exit the London Stadium the Hammers could reignite their interest in Torino defender Ola Aina.

The Sun’s Alan Nixon reported on his Patreon account on Sunday (4 September) that Leeds United and Newcastle are both interested in Ashby, with Leeds expected to try again in the January window.

However, Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth reported (via Twitter, 1 September) that West Ham had a £6.9million package rejected for the 25-year-old right back on deadline day.

Ashby is highly regarded at the London Stadium, but there have been murmurings of discomfort from the 20-year-old, with reliable West Ham source Claret and Hugh suggesting on their website (5 September) that he could reject a new deal at the London Stadium.

If that does happen, then David Moyes will surely be in the market for another full-back and considering his deadline day interest in Aina, he could well be the man that Moyes goes to again.

West Ham’s squad looks well set for another successful Premier League season and it’s important that the players settle in quickly to arrest their poor start to the campaign.

Considering the amount of work that went into the January window for West Ham, it would not be a shock if work was already going on behind the scenes in the lead-up to the January window.

The club will be disappointed to see Ashby leave, and if he does it could begin to a slight concern, considering that Sonny Perkins decided to depart to join Leeds United.

Moyes may be wise to give his youngsters more chances in the near future.
