Hansi Flick emerges as West Ham United candidate to replace David Moyes at London Stadium
West Ham are considering ex-Germany international manager Hansi Flick to replace David Moyes, according to Jacob Steinberg.
Reporting via the paper’s website on 24 April the journalist indicated the former treble-winning Bayern Munich coach is on the Irons’ shortlist to take over at the London Stadium, along with the likes of Graham Potter, Marco Silva and Steve Cooper.
However the 59-year-old German currently remains just a name who the Hammers have an interest in rather than an active option, after talks were held with Ruben Amorim and Julen Lopetegui.
Moyes’ contract is set to expire in the summer and while his departure has not been confirmed West Ham are now “preparing to make a change”.

Flick seems like a long shot to take over from Moyes given he has never managed in England and is only a year younger than the Scot.
Although neither factor needs to rule any option out of the running David Sullivan is believed to value Premier League experience and some at the club are said to be warning the co-owner off prominent candidate Lopetegui in favour of a younger manager.
But the German’s relatively brief spell in charge at the Allianz Arena was glittering as he won two Bundesliga titles, the DFB Pokal, a Champions League, the Club World Cup, the European Super Cup and the DFL Supercup in little over two seasons, with this treble-winning 2019-2020 campaign seeing him named the best manager in Germany and UEFA Mens’ Coach of the Year.
However, there have to be doubts over how much of that success was a product of the circumstances in Bavaria at the time and how much was down to him, as his reputation took a major hit in charge of Germany after they were knocked out of the Qatar World Cup at the group stage before he became the first ever boss of the national team to be sacked last September.

That has to make him a risk to follow Moyes if it came to it, and while there is a German link with Tim Steidten the technical director is said to be championing Thomas Tuchel.
The former Chelsea boss’ time in charge of Bayern pales in comparison to that of Flick’s but he otherwise seems like a far more sensible option for West Ham after what he achieved at Stamford Bridge.
