Guvna B rages at what West Ham United board have done to Ben Johnson

Guvna B has raged at the West Ham board for how they have treated Ben Johnson at the London Stadium.

Writing on Twitter on Sunday (4 February), the award-winning rapper said “the cheek of the board” for stalling on handing the Hammers academy product a new contract as his deal is set to expire at the end of the season.

He added that the 24-year-old is “clearly a talent” as he praised the Irons boss David Moyes for recognising that the right-back has the ability to play further forward after he started in midfield in the 3-0 defeat against Manchester United on Sunday at Old Trafford.

“Cheek of the board stalling on the Ben Johnson contract,” said Guvna B. “Come up through the youth team and clearly a talent. Fair play to Moyes for recognising his ability to play further forward.”

Ben Johnson has improved dramatically lately at West Ham

It’s been quite the turnaround for Johnson at West Ham after he was previously deemed surplus to requirements by Moyes and looked set to be released at the end of the season.

That wasn’t too much of a surprise as his performances had dropped off dramatically over the past year or so and he was well down the pecking order.

But following the departure of Thilo Kehrer to Monaco in the January transfer window, the right-back has worked his way back into contention over the past few weeks.

The Hammers boss realised in the second half against Sheffield United that he could potentially do a job in midfield, having already shown his versatility to play all along the backline.

After the right-back is believed to have turned down a couple of contract offers already due to his concerns over playing time, it’s likely the board will make him another offer soon following his recent displays.
