Guido Rodriguez torn into after recent West Ham United display, ‘Seen milk turn faster’

Tom Rennie has torn into Guido Rodriguez in a new social media post, suggesting he’s seen “milk turn faster” than the West Ham United man.

The Argentine arrived in East London on a free transfer this summer having departed Real Betis at the end of the season as a free-agent, but has had a difficult start to life in East London so far.

Rodriguez was one of many Hammers players off of the pace in the 4-1 defeat to Tottenham last time out and talkSPORT broadcaster Rennie has suggested he needs a dynamic midfielder next to him to thrive at the London Stadium.

Writing on X on Wednesday (23 October) he said: “I’ve seen milk turn faster.

“Slow, poorly positioned, needs a Caicedo type next to him to get the best of him.”

What has happened to West Ham man Guido Rodriguez at the London Stadium?

While Rennie’s assessment of Rodriguez is slightly harsh, it does feel as though the World Cup winner doesn’t quite have what it takes to thrive in the Premier League with the quicker pace and more physical style.

Julen Lopetegui does have a slight issue with a general lack of pace in the middle of the park. A combination of Rodriguez, Tomas Soucek and Edson Alvarez will very rarely be able to outrun their opposition.

Games are won and lost in midfield and the Hammers cannot afford to keep beating overrun in the middle of the park. Somehow, the Irons boss needs to find a way to protect Rodriguez if he wants to keep starting him this season.

Hopefully, the former Betis man will continue to improve as he plays more and more Premier League football. Although he faded in the defeat against Spurs, he did make one or two crucial tackles and blocks with some excellent interventions.

There is a good player in there, the question is just whether or not there is a good Premier League player in there.
