Graham Potter warning sent at West Ham United after David Moyes sack update
Daily Mail journalist Ian Herbert has sent a warning to West Ham United after Graham Potter was mooted as a potential replacement for David Moyes.
The pressure is well and truly on for the Scot, who is under fire more than ever after a 6-0 loss to Arsenal on Sunday 11 February and without a win in seven matches in all competitions.
More Hammers fans are turning against Moyes, with his negative defensive style of football causing more problems than it is solving this season, with Ipswich Town’s Kieran McKenna also linked with the job.
Writing for the Daily Mail on Tuesday (14 February, page 65), he said: “That the club need the imagination of and flair of ‘a new Roberto De Zerbi’. Graham Potter, perhaps. Out of work and very much available.
“To me, that seems a very curious kind of logic, given that De Zerbi – the supposed model manager – has navigated Brighton to ninth position in the Premier League position, while West Ham are eighth.
“Fans should be careful what they wish for in Potter.”
David Moyes heading for West Ham United exit?
One thing to remember is that the grass is not always greener on the other side. Potter has already been in this situation before, with Chelsea targeting him after an incredible season with Brighton, but how did that work out?
Having lifted the Hammers’ first European trophy in decades, currently sitting in eighth in the Premier League, and in with a chance of a second consecutive title with the Europa League, sacking Moyes could be a huge risk.
Just a few weeks ago, fans were excited about the prospect of Moyes signing a brand new contract at London Stadium, and now the manager has been rumoured to walk away at the end of the season due to him feeling underappreciated.

All clubs experience highs and lows during a season, and the hope is that Moyes is experiencing his now but can lead West Ham to a decent finish in the league and more European success. Whether he is given that chance is a completely different question.
As Herbert says, Potter is readily available to bring in. Would West Ham be happy to wait until the end of the season and hope he is still without a managerial job? It is certainly a risk.
