Graham Potter to sign West Ham contract as deal agreed – Fabrizio Romano
Graham Potter is signing his contract to become the new head coach of West Ham after agreeing a deal to replace Julen Lopetegui, Fabrizio Romano has said.
The Italian journalist reported that the appointment is “sealed, confirmed” with the former Chelsea boss’ appointment at the London Stadium now imminent.
Potter, 49, replaces Julen Lopetegui whose dismissal was confirmed on Wednesday (8 January) a little over seven months since he was chosen to replace David Moyes.
Graham Potter to become West Ham boss
One of the worst-kept secrets of the early days of 2025 is finally about to become official with Potter now on the brink of replacing Lopetegui at the London Stadium,
The decision to appoint Lopetegui looks a really poor one in hindsight. He just never looked like an upgrade on Moyes and, frankly, his style of football was completely indistinguishable from the Scot’s.
It is fair to say that Potter’s appointment is one that isn’t exactly getting tongues wagging at the London Stadium. His debacle at Chelsea damaged the good work he had done earlier in his career.

But at least with Potter you feel there will be an attempt to play a more expansive, free-flowing game that Hammers supporters absolutely crave.
Whether it yields success or not remains to be seen but at least there is an end to the uncertainty that has shrouded the club for most of the season.
