Graham Potter given welcome West Ham boost after what happened in behind-closed-doors match

West Ham are utilising the international break to get players back to full fitness.

West Ham beat Nottingham Forest 3-0 in a much-needed win prior to the two-week break, and are hoping to get players up to speed for their next game against Tottenham.

Lucas Paqueta scored for Brazil in their 3-0 win against Chile, and looks to have put transfer disruption from over the summer behind him.

Back home in England, Graham Potter’s side took on Watford in a behind-closed-doors friendly.

Luis Guilherme returns to action for West Ham

Crysencio Summerville is getting closer to returning for West Ham, after a long injury layoff, and could be like a new signing for the Hammers.

Luis Guilherme now also looks to be gaining fitness as he featured in the 1-1 draw with Watford, according to ExWHUEmployee via The West Ham Way Patreon.

Watford took the lead in the second half, with Preston Fearon equalising for the Irons.

Guilherme came on for the last 30 minutes as he looks to recover from his injury he sustained over the summer.

The Brazilian missed West Ham’s opening match against Sunderland as he recovers from a broken collarbone, and has not been used at all this campaign.

Luis Guilherme had a difficult debut season at West Ham

The 19-year-old winger joined the Hammers from Palmeiras last summer, but struggled to make an impact at the London Stadium.

Guilherme often missed out on a place in the starting 11, with Summerville and Jarrod Bowen ahead of him in the pecking order.

However, it is hoped that he will add more depth and promise to the Hammers this season, with limited options up front.

Luis Guilherme has huge opportunity ahead of him after injury

Niclas Fullkrug sustained an injury for Germany, which will keep him on the sidelines.

33-year-old Callum Wilson can’t carry all the weight on his own up front, so others will have to step up.

Guilherme could have left West Ham on loan in the summer, but he has now been given a chance to prove himself.

He could return to the squad against Tottenham next time out and start against Crystal Palace later in the month.

Now is the chance for the 19-year-old to follow in the footsteps of other Brazilians in the Premier League and make a name for himself.
