Graham Potter appointment: West Ham could make change within days
Graham Potter is looking likely to be the man in the West Ham United dugout for the clash with Fulham on 14 January, according to Sean Whetstone.
The future of Julen Lopetegui is looking dull [talkSPORT] and, according to Whetstone via his West Ham Football X account [6 December], Potter is likely to become the new Irons manager in the coming week.
Potter had previously been tipped to take over from Lopetegui and the update from Whetstone suggests a change could be imminent for the Hammers.
Defeat against Aston Villa could spell the end of the road for Lopetegui, with the claim that the likelihood of Potter’s appointment is “growing hour by hour”.
Graham Potter set to become the new West Ham United boss?
It’s becoming increasingly difficult to see a future at the club for Lopetegui and, should the Irons lose against Villa, that absolutely has to be the final game he is allowed to oversee given the damage he has done this campaign.
Although regardless of the result, many will feel that should be the outcome anyway and if Potter is ready to take the reigns, it’s hard to disagree.
His work at Brighton was outstanding and it’s a very similar job to the one he would be asked to undertake at the London Stadium. There are very few better suited to the job than him.

Having gained a reputation in English football for his free-flowing style of play, it would suit the Hammers perfectly in their bid to revive the season.
All eyes will be on any developments that occur over the coming days, with a potential decision surely due to arrive imminently.
